  Article 50-Dishonourable discharge
50.1 Dishonourable discharge
A dishonorable discharge is reserved for acts of cowardice and disgrace against the code of the force.
It is the most disgraceful and shameful act to befall a law enforcement officer and signals to all officers and to the public a person who displayed no moral courage nor honor when faced with the choice to redeem themselves and do the right thing.
An officer who admits their guilt in some act of dishonor against the force without compelling their fellow officers to have to report the incident redeme in some part, even if they subsequently must face criminal charges.
A person who displays the courage and the moral strength to admit their faults in such a way can never be dishonorably discharged.
Therefore while a criminal conviction might appear to be the worst punishment to befall a police officer who has disgraged their uniform, it is in fact a dishonourable discharge that is the very worst .
