| The material and physical design of uniforms should match the diverse roles that police officers must undertake in their day to day duty. | ||
| For patrol police, uniforms that enable flexibility of movement, the ability to run, protection from minor injury are preferred over uniforms that emphasize neatness and order. | ||
| Police that are required to attend court should have their official dress uniforms that emphasize honor, precision and neatness. | ||
| Police that are required for covert and tactical response should also have access to specialized uniform components that assist them in their work. | ||
