  Article 65-Police investigations
65.1 Police investigations
Police investigations are the formal process of investigating an actual or suspected crime, interviewing of suspect(s) and witnesses and the attempt to identify the most likely suspect, preparation of charges and a formal indictment.
65.2 Criminal code and Judicial Code and investigations
Recognizing the changing nature of criminal investigation, the Criminal Code and Judicial Code of Oceanic Union provide powerful means of assisting police in operating a rapid and early investigation of serious crimes that would otherwise take months, even years by historic systems.
The most important tool of investigation for police under the new codes of Oceanic Union is the 1st interview- a formal interview process that actually compels the suspect to tell the truth, without the presence of legal representation under threat of being charged to the seriousness of the investigative crime.
Given the first forty-eight hours after a crime represent the most crucial period of investigation before clues are lost and memories are fresh, the 1st interview is an essential tool in ensuring police are able to directly obtain critical information at the earliest possible time to conclude the likely suspect(s) of a crime.
