Importance of the first forty-eight hours |
| |
In all investigations of homicide and violent crime, police resources should be allocated such that the investigation can reach preliminary investigations quickly to establish: |
| |
(i) likely suspects; |
| |
(ii) likely location of suspects; |
| |
(iii) likely location of any weapons used in the crime. |
| |
In particular, the speed of investigation should be to ensure that any suspect is not given sufficient time to either commit further crimes or prepare to flee from justice. |
