5. General

T1-Community Correctional
Facility |
|
| |
By this code, such facilities shall exist and be known as Community Correctional Facilities for the exclusive detainment of all prisoners sentenced to a custodial sentence not exceeding three (3) years and not convicted of violent, gang, sexually related or anti-social crimes. |
|
| |
No other correctional facilities shall be permitted to be temporarily or permanently used for such purpose other than those solely constructed and managed for this specific purpose. |
|
| |
It is the responsibility of the Office of Corrections to closely monitor the impact of the actions of the police and the courts in respect to the demand for T1 Community Correctional Facility places and to alert Government to budgetary savings or capital requirements depending upon the general trend and demands. |

| 28.2 |
General context of a T1-Community Correctional
Facility |

Individuals whose custodial sentence not exceeding three (3) years and and not convicted of violent, gang, sexually related or anti-social crimes who show a willingness to undertake community development and self improvement programs shall be eligible for residency in a Community Correctional Facility. |
|
| |
The objective of a T1 Community Correctional Facility whilst a prisoner is imprisoned is to ensure they undertake sufficient training, skills development and personal development to minimize any possible risk a further criminal acts in the future. |
|
| |
It shall never be the primary or related purpose of a Community Correctional Facility to function the same way as a Disciplinary Correctional Facility. |

| 28.3 |
Condition of classification of a prisoner to a T1-Community Correctional
Facility |
|
| |
By this Code, it shall be considered an offence to classify a T1 prisoner immediately to a T1 Community Correctional Facility if the crimes for which they have been convicted are especially violent crimes, sexual related crimes and/or gange related. A prisoner convicted os such offences shall be ineligiible for re-assignment to a T1 Community Correctional Facility even if they display good behaviour. |

Only prisoners convicted of non-violent, non sexual and gange related crimes shall be eligible for classification to a T1 Community Correctional Facility. |

Codes of a T1-Community Correctional

The following shall be the general codes of a T1 Community Correctional Facility. |

| Clothing and footwear |
Prison issue only. No person clothing.
|
| Appearance |
Neat and tidy to regulation. No modification permitted whatsoever. |
| Speaking and silence |
Permitted. Shouting is banned. |
| Smoking |
No smoking in public areas and no smoking permitted whatsoever before 5pm break, no smoking after 10pm. |
|
Option of 1 small open cup of alcohol permitted at dinner meals. 2 cups at main Sunday dinner meal. Banned at all other times.
|
|
1 call per week, 10 minutes.

Food permitted in cells if have fridge and shelves.
